About the Role

Our client is a growing, technology-driven organization in Fairfield County seeking a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure architecture and delivery platforms. This is a senior individual contributor role with real ownership—covering design, automation, reliability, and performance across production systems.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams, guide technical direction, and help mature DevOps practices while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and manage scalable, fault-tolerant AWS environments using Terraform and Terragrunt.

• Build automation and configuration management with Puppet and Packer.

• Design and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, including shared libraries and advanced deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, rolling).

• Develop automation tools using Shell and Python.

• Implement monitoring and alerting with Grafana and Prometheus; troubleshoot production issues and reduce MTTR.

• Apply SRE concepts such as SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and incident management.

• Support hybrid IaC environments including CloudFormation.

• Partner with engineering teams to embed CI/CD and infrastructure best practices.

• Lead security initiatives including IAM, least privilege, and secrets management.

• Mentor junior DevOps engineers and promote knowledge sharing.

Required Experience

• Strong production AWS experience and cloud architecture design.

• Advanced Terraform/Terragrunt (modules, state, best practices).

• Puppet configuration management.

• Deep Jenkins and Git experience.

• Strong Shell scripting and Python.

• Expert Linux administration and troubleshooting.

• Grafana and Prometheus in production environments.

Preferred

• Packer for immutable images.

• Postgres/MySQL fundamentals (backup/restore, replication, performance).

• CloudFormation exposure.

• Experience with SRE practices and compliance/security controls.
