Manager Web Application Architecture

Our Direct Client located in Purchase, NY has an exciting new consulting engagement for a Manager of Application Architecture to help lead the definition and design of custom web applications.


As applications are implemented, this position will also provide technical guidance, make design adjustments, and ensure delivery of quality code that adheres to defined coding standards. This position will not have any direct reports but they will heavily involved in guiding resources on projects. This position also offers a very competitive bonus structure. The position will probably only require coding work about 10-20% of the time.

A consultant is needed right away.  Longer-term this could convert to a full-time position, if mutually desired.  

Our Clients utilizes the following technologies
•Database – Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures
•Data Access Layer – Web API written in C# .Net using Enterprise Library for database calls
•Web Presentation Layer – Web Application written in C# .Net MVC using Telerik controls and Responsive Design.

Day to day activities will include:

•Define, document, and communicate architectural standards for custom web applications
•Lead design efforts to re-architect existing web applications and build new applications
•Technical oversight of onshore and offshore web development efforts
•Conduct code reviews to ensure that architectural standards are followed
•Convert functional specifications into technical specifications
•Collaborate with Project Managers to establish and adhere to reasonable project timelines
•Provide expert commentary on data deliverables in design and code reviews
•Assist with troubleshooting and performance tuning to identify root cause and recommend solutions
•Work with senior leadership to implement the architecture direction
•Work both independently and collaboratively within one or more project teams
•Make decisions and set priorities consistent with the long-term interest of the organization and stakeholders


•MS or BS in computer science or equivalent education desired
•At least 7 years of experience designing MVC applications written in C# .Net
•At least 5-7 years of logical data modeling experience
•At least 5-7 years of hands-on RDBMS experience (SQL Server preferred)
•At least 3 years of experience designing Web APIs (or Web Services)
•Experience using JavaScript and CSS to provide a responsive web design
•Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
•Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality
•Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
•Strong listening and questioning skills
•Leadership skills with ability to champion change and drive organization improvement
•Must work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
•Ability to lead meetings with technical peers regarding solution designs
•Efficiently manage time and set priorities for multiple deadlines as well as ad hoc requests
•Provide timely status updates and issue escalation to appropriate levels of management
•Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
•Experience with MVC JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Backbone, or Ember) is a plus
•Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services is a plus
•Experience architecting solutions for Native Mobile (Android and iOS) apps is a plus
