Job Title: Unified Communications Service Architect


Duties: The Service Architect is a widely recognized and respected expert within one or more Topic Areas. The Service Architect possesses knowledge about all the technologies within their Topic Area, stays up to date regarding emerging technologies/market trends and can position and succinctly communicate about multiple technologies.

As well as maintaining awareness/understanding of where other Topic Area priorities intersect with their own Topic Area, the Service Architect manages a community of Subject Matter Experts to exchange information, evaluate technologies/implementations and drives global standardization processes. The Service Architect also drives awareness/education of Topic Area priorities with respect to enterprise/technology integration, security, etc.

The Service Architect works directly with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and Service Managers to ensure new solutions align with the architectural strategies and remain viable and operable.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop a strategy and roadmap for the Topic Area.
Maintain the Technical Reference Model taxonomy for the Topic Area.
Create and maintain Reference Architectures for the Topic Area.
Work with the governing bodies and management to create, publish and promote Topic Area direction.
Serve as an architectural resource for projects and other solution development activities. Provide the direction and support to Solution Architects for the aspects related to their Topic Area for all solutions developed.
Work with Product Managers and other Service Architects to align activities and directions.
Drive processes to create implementation patterns, best practice articles etc.
Create Technology Standards documentation, leveraging the input from the related product owners.
Drive processes to identify, create, ratify and publish standards.
Create guidelines, technical recommendations and white papers, consolidating the input from a variety of sources and Subject Matter Experts.
Drive consistency of style and format, and maintain high quality across all architectural documentation.
Maintain an understanding of business and industry trends for Topic Area impact/strategic direction.
Facilitate the migration strategies of retiring products.
Manage (no direct reports) a community of regional and cross-functional Subject Matter Experts. Organize meetings and facilitate the exchange of information.

Management and Competencies

Strong ability to interact with all levels of the organization (from junior staff to senior executives).
Work effectively with a distributed international team, across cultures and time zones with minimal supervision.
Capable of strategic thinking, analytical thinking and moving strategic plans into action.
Experienced with IT architecture development.
Ability to work at many levels of abstraction.
Ability to multi-task and balance multiple activities simultaneously.
Must be able to work in a high-pressure, high-output environment.
Must be detailed and process oriented.
Ability to work independently or as a member of various project teams, personally managing their own work packages.
Knowledge of industry standards (such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, BPMN) is preferred.
Experience managing and providing leadership.

Skills: Travel: Occasional international travel to client locations. Occasional participation in international conferences.
Qualifications

Specialist in Unified Communications technologies including Skype for Business, Audio conferencing and Video Conferencing.
Multiyear technology experience within IT environments.
Long-term, in-depth IT background.
Skills in training and presenting.
Confidence in dealing with staff, managers and partners across the firm.
Good knowledge of regional issues and structures, ability to work with people from many different cultural backgrounds.
Relevant certifications.

Education / Academics

BSc. degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (i.e., Computer Science) or equivalent experience.

Certifications related to the role (TOGAF, ArchiMate, BPMN) is preferred.
