Jr. DevOps Engineer/DBA

Our direct client in Lower Fairfield County is looking for a Full-Time Jr. DevOps Engineer/DBA to join their team. In this position you will be  responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting a DevOps framework for the support of both an on-premises and cloud based application infrastructure. Will also be responsible for routine database administrative functions and will be tasked with automating the monitoring and execution of daily functions to streamline processing and improve system reliability.


- Implementation of system health monitoring and alerting tools to provide immediate notification of system failures
- Drive implementation and enhancement of cloud based application deployment infrastructure and reporting services
- Partner with QA team for the integration of automated test and regression scripts into all environments (QA, Production, Sandbox) to perform automated verification of functionality with each release (improve system reliability)
- Optimization of build process to reduce manual effort, deployment error, and to reduce deployment time for functional changes
- Work under the guidance of the Head of Infrastructure with internal IT support related tasks:
- Install server hardware and software infrastructure
- Setup user accounts and passwords; manage email, spam, and virus protection
- Retrieve forgotten passwords
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
- Keep internal networks running smoothly
- Work with Senior DBA's to perform routine database maintenance and support tasks:
- Manage system backups and restores
- Execute and automate daily database script execution and maintenance tasks

- Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- Some exposure or experience with deployment, support, and monitoring in a cloud based platform (AWS or Azure)
- Familiarity with basic SQL Server maintenance (backup/restore, permission management, new server configuration and setup)
- Some experience with release management and continuous integration and a production environment
- Extremely high energy, with focus on problem solving and collaboration
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and effectively solve problems in a timely and organized manner using industry best practices and procedures
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

- Experience supporting and monitoring a web services based infrastructure in a Windows based environment
- Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013, MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and/or 2014, MS SharePoint 2010/2013 - Some knowledge of Active Directory concepts and administration
- Experience working in a structured, process-driven environment
- Relevant certifications (A+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Support Technician)
- Windows PowerShell, versioning software (i.e. SVN, GIT), and Window Server (2008 R2, 2012 R2) experience
- Virtualization and VPN troubleshooting experience
