Cloud Engineer

 

Our client, one of the worlds largest trading companies in Stamford, CT, is seeking a self-motivated and seasoned Systems Support Engineer prepared to add value to their IT Infrastructure department. . In this role, you will be part of an international technical team that is responsible for managing and providing 24×7 day to day support for on-premise and public cloud IaaS and PaaS platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, support of the physical data center as well as remote locations, including all the server and network hardware and software, as well as providing desktop support. The Cloud Engineer must be proficient with MS Azure as we continue to transfer our on-premise services to various cloud solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • • Understand and convey Best-Practice procedures in the ever-changing threat landscape

    • Understand various Cloud Architecture vendor interoperability and methods of defense

    • Design computer security strategy and engineer comprehensive cybersecurity architecture

    • Identify and resolve issues in a quality and expeditious manner

    • Communicate and be able to explain all aspects of work completed

    • Ability to contact vendors for all degrees of project management

    • Lead and/or participate in corporate level IT projects

    • Manage external resources, suppliers, and contracts

    • Collaborate in the global IT infrastructure team (at an international level)

    • Support and improve system environment and services

    • Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure across multiple sites

    • Document operational and support procedures

    • Follow change management procedures

    • Participate and coordinate IT Infrastructure incident and problem management (ticketing system)

    • Attend and heavily participate in all IT related meetings or brainstorming sessions, as necessary

    • Purchase order creation

 

Knowledge and experience in the following is required:

  • • 6-12 years of experience, with 5 years of DevOps experience, 3 years of cloud-based deployment and support experience, and 3 years of experience providing purely Level 1 help desk support

    • Advanced experience with Azure infrastructure

    • Ability to take a leadership role in installations and provide guidance to other engineers

 

Knowledge and experience in the following is a plus:

  • • Office 365 support and architecture knowledge in a hybrid environment

    • Experience in the implementation and support of Office365 environments

    • Experience configuring and implementing Intune advanced security features

    • AWS Platform knowledge with a focus on storage and computing

    • Other platform knowledge on cloud based solutions

    • Basic Active Directory administration – (including, but not limited to, user creation, password/group/OU maintenance and other various day to day activities.)

    • Basic functional knowledge of MS PowerShell

    • Functional understanding of Wireless technologies

    • Functional understanding of routing and VPN technologies

    • MDM mobile and workstation administration

    • Support and maintenance of Rubrik backup and recovery

    • Knowledge of java-based trading system software – (JTrader, Barx, M-Trade Pro, etc.)

    • Data Feed software – (Reuters, Bloomberg, CQG, Future Source, Fast Markets, etc.)

    • MS Windows Server (Administration, Clustering, IIS, DHCP, DNS/WINS, DFS, Group Policy, etc.)

    • Functional engineering knowledge of Cisco equipment – (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.)

    • Functional engineering knowledge of Citrix on-premise and cloud offerings

    • Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure experience

    • Data Storage (EMC) management experience

    • Poly Video Conferencing

 

Familiarity with the following concepts, procedures and/or software:

  • Change management procedures
  • Purchase order creation
  • Poly Video Conferencing
  • MS SQL Server backups and queries

The standard hours of work are Monday through Friday from 9am – 5:30pm with the ability to work rotating shifts from 7am – 3:30pm. Additional 24×7 rotational on-call technical support is required as well.
