Our direct client, a fast-growing FinTech firm, is looking for looking for a manager to lead their Disaster Recovery and Resiliency Program. In this role, you will be reporting to the Chief Information Security leader, you will lead and drive the company's business continuity and disaster recovery program. Responsible for organizing, maintaining, and further developing the entire disaster recovery program to ensure teams, products, and technology platforms are prepared to respond to a business-impacting event. This individual will drive the enterprise resiliency program; build governance support from senior leadership, driving program initiatives, and work with business teams to ensure system recoverability is in line with business objectives. We are looking for someone who is passionate about business resilience and understands the current technology landscape for cloud environments, software-as-a-service products, and managing physical security resilience. The leader must be a natural project manager and be knowledgeable and driven to implement a robust program within a rapidly expanding global organization. This person must have a passion for technology, experience with complex systems, and can demonstrate experience in business continuity and disaster recovery. This role is responsible for independently building and driving the entire global resilience program including Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and Crisis Management programs.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • Responsible for the ownership, management, oversight, and continuous improvement and maturity of the Resiliency Program, including working with IT teams and key Business Continuity stakeholders to ensure critical recovery strategies are designed, tested, and implemented
  • Work cross-functionally with senior leaders and teams across entities to define and implement business impact assessments, coordinate and lead business continuity and disaster recovery tabletops and exercises, identify, and prioritize remediation, and track completion
  • Partner with functional leads to implement and maintain disaster recovery plans and metrics to ensure the security and integrity of company technology and data, and identify program improvements
  • Own remediation items identified in exercises and assessments, collaborating with partner teams to design new processes and policies that close gaps
  • Develop and monitor physical security risk and resilience policies and standards
  • Maintain compliance with all standards, regulations, and requirements
  • Possess and continuously enhance current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and jurisdictional nuances that can impact program implementation
  • Establish training with business and IT functional teams to test operational resilience of programs
  • Create reports as needed for different levels of leadership, covering all aspects of BCP and DR
  • Outlines and manages a distribution strategy to safeguard that continuity and recovery action plans are correctly secured, distributed, and made available under all disaster scenarios
  • Delivers 24 hour a day/7 day a week on-call support for any emergency which may necessitate activation of all or part of organizational continuity and recovery action strategies
  • Evaluates the corporate continuity consequences of proposed technological or organizational changes, and synchronizes any revisions to the existing continuity action plans
  • Safeguards that continuity and recovery action plans are kept up-to-date and reflective of business requirements and environmental modification
  • Serves as the organization liaison for enterprise-wide corporate continuity efforts
  • Documents the results of all tests and drills, and identifies any suggested augmentations to the continuity and recovery action strategies
  • Ensures BCPDR framework remains modern and applicable to organization’s changing company operations and risk profiles

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • Relevant work experience: A minimum 5+ years of business continuity/disaster recovery/crisis management work experience, with at least 3-5 years of project management and other leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE), or equivalent certifications preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Excellent Project Management skills with emphasis in the build and design of a complex global IT Disaster Recovery Program
  • Strong technical aptitude with project management skills, capable of learning emerging technology and creating plans to support the business
  • Experience with AWS-built environments, SaaS provider architecture, and cloud-based disaster recovery methodology
  • Outstanding communicator and writer; experience with drafting project plans across multiple stakeholders, holding teams accountable to their deliverables, and producing final reports
  • Ability to risk rank multiple high priority items and advocate successfully for technical and business teams
  • Expert knowledge in crisis management and emergency preparedness best practices
  • Expert knowledge in defining, implementing, and ensuring risk-based standards, processes, and procedures for responding to disruptions in business or IT operations
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while still meeting deliverables
