IT Project Manager - Mid Level

Our direct client, located in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a  Mid-Level IT Project Management resource. This role is appropriate for candidates interested in contractor to hire  opportunities.

Logistical Requirements for this role are as follows:

  • Must be willing to be on-site 2-3 days/week
    • Located within reasonable commuting distance to client site
  • Must be US Citizen or Equivalent (no sponsorship opportunities) at this time
  • Initial Contract Term: 6 Months with likely conversion
  • Utilities Experience is preferred, not required however, a strong plus


In this role, the PM will manage the following projects (at this time, and is likely to change based upon portfolio changes):

  • Server upgrade & retirement portfolio
  • Upgrade of SOA interface engine
  • Upgrade of storm / outage management applications
  • Implementation of new digital circuit wallboard & mapping application

The Project Manager leverages the organization's Project  Management methodology to deliver moderate to large scale projects within scope, schedule, and cost criteria. This position partners with business leaders to design, plan, and manage cross-functional teams to a clearly-defined set of common goals. The Project Manager manages the entire project lifecycle from initiation through transition to operation (project closure).

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills to facilitate collaborative project deliveries and promote the value of project management across the organization
  • Manages vendor relationships throughout the duration of related projects and collaborates with vendor implementation resources to ensure alignment of expectations and deliverables
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to produce project artifacts that align within the appropriate stage of project execution (i.e. scope, schedule, budget, test plan, communication plan, education plan, activation plan, & change control)
  • Facilitates critical, time-sensitive discussions related to risks, issues, dependencies, and decision points with stakeholders and collaborates with the team to develop corresponding action plans
  • Understands and applies PMBOK and Agile project management frameworks to manage risks and facilitate the delivery of projects within scope, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Consistently provides effective status reporting that contains the appropriate level of actionable detail for Executive, Sponsor-level, and project team recipients
  • Creates and maintains accurate project budgets and actively manages costs throughout project lifecycle
  • Executes proper change control processes to provide transparency and effectively manage scope, schedule, and cost
  • Proficiently leverages Project Management tools such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PPM and budgeting software to ensure high-quality project deliveries
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to change management, incident reporting, time accounting, expense reporting, purchase requisition processes, and compliance requirements
