IT Systems Analyst - Financial Services

We seek several experienced IT Systems Analysts with technical skills (i.e. SQL, some programming/coding background)  to work on implementation of a new trading and risk management system, and integration with the client's other IT systems.   Due to the company's growth, and the need to get started quickly,  these positions will be contract-to-hire.  
 

This hands-on IT Systems Analyst position will partner with the business to provide a major technology platform transformation, where legacy technology and business processes are undergoing a complete and strategic overhaul. This individual will help drive the documentation and planning aspects of the overall project as well as provide ongoing application support on the new system. The Systems Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of business requirements and translating the needs of the business into specifications that will guide development, system and process enhancements, and process changes that impact multiple areas (Accounting, Trading, Risk, Technology, and Operations).and business teams. Focused on efficiency, sustainability, and industry advantages, the successful candidate will deliver enhanced business models and workflows and application support for all business units.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with stakeholders across business units
  • Serve as a liaison between end users and stakeholders
  • Analyze business operations and develop understanding of business objectives by gathering requirements
  • Identify substandard operational processes and provide recommendations for efficiency
  • Ensure enhancements and proposed solutions meet business requirements
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business demand
  • Develop and manage project plans
  • Document, implement, and maintain business procedures
  • Conduct end user sessions to share findings and exchange ideas
  • Communicate project results and status to firm leadership
  • Create user stories and perform user acceptance testing
  • Lead cross functional working sessions and individual stakeholder interviews
  • Manage accountability to deadlines and project timelines
  • Facilitate the documentation of project requirements and business processes using workshops, and use case scenarios
  • Document feature-level requirements to system capabilities
  • Translate product requirements into high-level system impacts
  • Manage project scope to ensure requirements stay within budget and timeline while meeting the needs of the business
  • Deliver documented user stories and acceptance criteria that clearly define and enhance the business and systems requirements
  • Write test scenarios and acceptance criteria based on requirements to help support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) team with testing Approach and Test Case creation
  • Collaborate with key UAT members to review, negotiate, and define Test Acceptance Plans to assure alignment with requirements
  • Perform product acceptance testing prior to launch in order to verify alignment with product requirements and to confirm customer facing systems and the user experience satisfies the expectations of the sponsors

 

  • Determine risks and gaps within the business specifications and collaborate with business units to mitigate and document resolutions accordingly
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Information Systems/Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance) and/or prior relevant work experience
  • 3+  years’ experience in business analysis
  • 1+ year experience with SQL, and any other programming language
  • Experience in Financial Services is a must – any exposure to trading and risk management systems and the Commodities industry is a plus
  • Must be able to self-manage
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Prior experience implementing a corporate wide trading platform, is a plus
  • Proficient in project design, project management as well as experience with creating the supporting documentation and processes that will be developed during this project
  • Experience working across internal departments and with external vendors
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Planning and time management skills
  • Skilled multi-tasker with ability to manage numerous projects and tasks concurrently
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • SQL and Database knowledge
  • Proficiency in JIRA or comparable software for Agile project management
  • Ability to lead and support project initiatives
This is an on-site position 5 days a week.  The client's office is conveniently located a 5 min. walk from the Stamford, CT Metro-North train station, and offers easy access for commuting and free parking.  Excellent, professional work environment.
