Position Title: Manager, Enterprise Architect Lead – Business Function


Position Overview

We have an immediate opening for a long term Consultant to in either the Eastern or Central time zone (remote) to function as The Lead Enterprise Architect for Business Functions is responsible for developing the Reference Architecture for the Business Functions Delivery stream in for a large, global client of ours. . As an integral member of the Architecture Office, this role will work closely with the Domain Architects in ensuring the Solution Architects within Business Functions adhere to the emerging Architecture Standards and help complete the Reference Architecture through the systematic identification, assessment, selection and design of future state applications and supporting infrastructure. In collaboration with the Business Process Integration Lead in the Business Functions team, this role is critical in ensuring an appropriate level of systems integration to support the realization of our client's vertical integration strategy and rationalization of the technology landscape ensuring there are no gaps or overlaps in functionality.


The successful candidate will:

  • Functionally report to the Enterprise Architecture Office Manager within Digital Integration with a dedicated focus working of project delivery priorities set by the Business Functions stream
  • Act as the overall Architecture Office representative in the Business Functions delivery stream
  • As a critical member of the Architecture Office, contribute to the development of the overall Target State Application Architecture, accountable for the Reference Architecture relating to the Business Functions scope
  • Guide the work activities assigned to the Business Functions Solutions Architects ensuring compliance and adherence to emerging Domain Architecture standards (Application, Data, Infrastructure, Security)
  • Oversee the assessment of application alternatives through RFP process in accordance with the Integrated SDLC approach set out by Digital Integration
  • In collaboration with the Business Functions BPI Lead, ensure the Design of the Business Functions Applications meet the business requirements and support the realization of the project's strategies (IT/OT convergence, vertical integration, relentless standardization)
  • Contribute to the development of Business Functions Program work package scoping, prioritization and planning ensuring consistency with the Target Application Architecture
  • Guide Solution Architects in actively contributing to the development of the Reference Architecture in the Enterprise Architecture Tool (Orbus iServer)
  • Ensure application boundaries are clearly defined and documented working with the Integration Architect to ensure dependencies and integration points are well defined
  • Ensure completeness of the “application footprint” across Business Functions enabling the “end-to-end” processes developed by the Business Analyst teams
  • Under the instruction of the Enterprise Architecture Office Manager, lead the development of ARB submissions for Business Functions and ensure compliance to emerging Reference Architecture standards
  • Work the existing IT teams and Lead Transition Architect to develop transition plans from legacy IT solutions
  • Contribute to development of the implementation schedules, development of work plans and progress reporting in the Business Functions delivery stream
  • Work with other Digital Integration team leads to ensure alignment of efforts across the program
  • As needed, assist in the development of role definitions and help identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for Architecture resources in Business Functions
  • Ensure the work executed by 3rd Parties in Business Functions meets the required architecture standards


Skills and Qualifications

A candidate that we would love would have:

  • Bachelor Degree in IT or Engineering (highly desirable)
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (desirable)
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience working with mining and mineral processing plants.
  • Exposure to MES integration and OT projects (design and delivery) desirable
  • Previous experience on global transformation programs (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a unified program environment consisting of many 3rd parties, consultants and owners team representatives (i.e. ability to fit into a team environment)
  • 10+ years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect in a mid-size company. Hands on experience in a manufacturing industry
  • Understanding of ISA-95 framework and sound knowledge of all levels with clear understanding of integrations across these levels (highly desirable)
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and methodologies including design thinking and agile methods; TOGAF; ArchiMate

    • Business Skills:
      • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry with subject matter expertise across associated operational (maintenance, manufacturing, production, HSE) and business support functions (HR, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance)
      • Ability to quickly develop and maintain a network of business relationships
    • Technical and Information Skills:
      • Understanding of industry leading Digital systems and technology
      • Experience with global ERP roll-outs (SAP – ideally S4/HANA)
      • Experience with complex system integrations delivery with a variety of middleware solutions (cloud and non-cloud)
      • Experience with deploying other enterprise IT solutions including CRM, Document Management, HR, Supply Chain, etc)
      • Progressive thinking and experience with use of cloud based solutions (SAAS)
      • Experience with Enterprise Architecture tools (Orbus iServer preferred but not essential) and Architecture frameworks
