Senior Scrum Master - Contract-to-hire - Remote

Our direct client, a renowned global firm, seeks a Sr. Scrum Master on a contract-to-hire basis.   This role is about 80% hands-on Scrum Master work and 20% helping lead and coordinate the team of 4-5 Scrum Masters, plus help evangelize the use of Scrum Masters on new IT projects in the organization.  Prefer a candidate in the Eastern or Central Time Zone, there are quite a few projects with calls with European team members, hence often an early start to the day for stand-ups on those projects.   

The Senior Scrum Master is a key role in Agile software development responsible for ensuring that Scrum practices and processes are followed by the team. The Scrum Master serves as the liaison between the Product Owner and the Agile software development team. This role helps the team reach peak productivity, coaches and mentors resources, resolves impediments that block a team and help track their progress. The Scrum Master also plays a critical role in the adoption of Scrum and other Agile development practices by the organization.  A Scrum Master at the firm often also plays the role of Technical Delivery Manager and has to be hands on with the team in pushing projects forward (Doing whatever it takes).  
This role requires a team member that will not only run Agile/Delivery Lead projects but spend 20% of the time managing other Scrum Masters and coaching. 

This role will start off as a contract, for 6-9 months and then convert to F/T employee position with competitive salary and outstanding benefits.   Client is consistently on “Best Companies to work for” lists and has excellent employee longevity.

Key accountabilities

75 Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
10 Manages other Scrum Masters and processes
5 Communicate with other management, developers, product managers, product relationship and technical support specialists on product issues.  Maintain process documentation
10 Evangelize on Agile Methodology
Skills and Experience Desired
 
  • Outstanding communications and presentation experience
  • Experience leading agile projects as a product owner and/or scrum master.
  • Proficient with creating/grooming product backlogs, writing user stories and developing acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical engineering best practices (e.g., test driven development, continuous integration, etc.).
  • Experience with running and teaching agile in a workshop or classroom setting (preferred).
  • Regularly publish papers, speak at conferences and contribute to agile interest groups.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics.
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Scrum Master certifications strongly preferred. 

 

Education:  Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
