Technical Writer / Internal Communications Consultant - Long-Term Contract

For our direct client in Northern NJ, we seek an experienced Technical Writer for a key role developing internal communications to deliver a holistic software product support messaging strategy, articulate product identity and value propositions which drive deployment, drive transparent and actionable messaging to business stakeholders around product updates and issues, and drive the preparation and follow up for key recurring governance meetings.  This role is responsible for technical messaging required to ensure proper product adoption by the client's global offices and stakeholders,  and smooth operations of global technologies overall.  

We seek an experienced Writer / Communications professional who's got experience in a software company or communications around a large software/application platform being used inside a global company.   

This is a long-term (12-36 mo) contract, which requires 3 days a week (Tues-Wed-Thursday)  onsite in client's main office in Bergen County, NJ.  Monday and Friday are work-from-home.  During the onsite time, there will be plenty of face-to-face meetings to get to know the various technology team leaders and key business stakeholders, learning about the product/applications which are being built, deployed, and supported, and then developing the various communication pieces that are needed.

Experience desired:

  • Minimum of five years' combined experience in technology communication, technical writing and project management.
  • Additional direct experience working with distributed teams including offshore centralized resources is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously, taking ownership of tasks and delivering results with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience working in the technology industry or in a large corporate technology group (familiarity with industry-specific terminology and concepts). Professional services experience is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience defining communications processes and protocols, including crisis response plans.
  • Ability to work with all levels of stakeholders and to understand and translate technical information into clear and concise materials that are easy for users to understand.
