VP, IT Operations

Position Overview

We currently have a Full Time, Permanent position for a growing, global client of ours for a VP, IT Operations.  The successful candidate will be an active participant in developing, implementing, and managing global information technology strategies and initiatives. The position will be responsible for leading the global IT Operations function opening which drives operational excellence, through simplification, standardization, automation, optimization and security. VP, IT Operations is responsible for IT infrastructure services, network services, and IT service management globally. These functions support the delivery of IT services and customer (end user) support. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer.

This role is accountable for:

  • Overseeing a team of information systems professionals responsible for the operation and maintenance of the production environment as well as managing various projects related to the IT infrastructure and IT network services.
  • Acting as the technology partner for both IT and businesses teams across the organization
  • Responsible for planning, establishing, and realizing the global IT Operations technology roadmap
  • Establishing global standards for IT infrastructure
  • Managing the operations of global systems
  • Managing the corporate networking backbone and wireless solutions
  • Global Service Management and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Establishing and monitoring the metrics used to manage IT operations, both globally and regionally
  • Plan, propose, and manage budget processes for IT projects, maintenance, expense management

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Actively participate on the CIO Roundtable as a full member of the Information Technology Leadership Team
  • Define the functional strategy and operational metrics/performance criteria to measure the effectiveness of the function
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and business processes
  • Ensure that adequate resources are available to mitigate risk
  • Drive the technology infrastructure, system availability, disaster recovery, and maintain a highly controlled environment to meet the regulatory goals and support the cyber security requirements
  • Establish overall governance to define and enforce technical architecture
  • Participate as a voting member in the Architecture Review Board (ARB)
  • Effectively utilize the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to establish and communicate the global standards of the organization
  • Enforce the standards of the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and prevent new non-conforming technology from being deployed
  • Manage the prioritization with key stakeholders to ensure alignment
  • Plan the information technology future, as well as for the implementation and maintenance of current systems
  • Provide vision and identify future solutions, sponsor projects and process engineering activities; Broad knowledge of business processes, aligning functional objectives with the corporate objectives and communicates and measure progress against business goals
  • Manage and plan resource consumption and allocation
  • Prioritize work requests from multiple sources into a discrete set of project objectives and deliverables
  • Resolve resource conflicts and allocate resources respectively, responsible for the management of the functional budgets
  • Maintain and manage a hybrid data center infrastructure utilizing Azure as well as on-premise technology infrastructure
  • Leverage cloud and outsourced infrastructure services where appropriate, taking into account requirements, capabilities, regulatory requirements, and cost structures and drive the maturity within the organization
  • Embrace new and emerging technologies to support operations and customers through flexibility and the ability to learn and adapt to change
  • Drive technology adoption and IT training across the organization
  • Follow full life-cycle management of all IT infrastructure components including ongoing planning all system upgrades including scheduling and budgeting needs as required
  • Ensure multiple simultaneous projects are executed and managed in accordance with the governance programs and committed project timelines are met without impacting production environment responsibilities
  • Responsible for the data integrity, backups, recovery strategy to ensure all critical data is protected appropriately to avoid any incidents
  • Define, develop and manage comprehensive and integrated ITSM processes to support the company’s need for incident management, change management and problem management
  • Maintain asset inventories and sunset schedules for all computing equipment including, but not limited to, software, servers, routers, switches, internet domains and workstations
  • Monitor the service levels and staff effectiveness in meeting project commitments
  • Serves on IT operations, Change Advisory Board, planning and other leadership groups/committees to drive processes and procedures to maintain a high integrity of the IT environment

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree a plus
  • At least 10 years of experience managing global teams responsible for technology, data center, IT service desk, networking and infrastructure architecture
  • Experience working for a global company and managing global teams
  • Ability to manage, coach, mentor and develop employees is a key ingredient for a successful candidate
  • Proven ability to manage multiplatform integrations. Solid, hands on, technical experience managing IT infrastructure service, network services and service management
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex and often contentious issues; reach consensus and work through people to achieve key goals
  • Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience, or industry activities
  • Excellent team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint
  • Excellent analytical skills – strong problem-solving skills and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
  • Excellent technical and business verbal and written communication skills with executive, business, and technical audiences
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills to coordinate a wide range of assignments by managing dependencies, expectations and effectively communicate with stakeholders throughout all levels of the organization
  • Successful track record of effective vendor management
  • Experience managing global SAP implementation projects
