Meet the Team: Joseph Croce
Our Meet the Team spotlight is now shining down on Joe Croce! Joe is a Senior Technical Recruiter at Benchmark IT and a great addition to our team. We had the opportunity to chat with Joe about his start in technology staffing, what he enjoys the most about the industry, and working with Benchmark IT. Read on for more!
What got you into technology staffing?
In the mid-’90s, I took my first job at a staffing firm. This firm was more traditional, filling temporary placements for office, admin, and clerically related work. This was my first taste of the staffing and recruiting industry; however, at the time, I had a few friends that got into technology staffing. They really enjoyed the technical side of the staffing industry because technology was booming during that time. With their advice to move into technology staffing, I applied for a job with a start-up firm in New York City. At first, I was intimidated because I didn’t have a lot of knowledge in technology, but I was assured that I would learn a lot on the job by talking with so many people in IT careers. I had a very successful stint in my ten years working at this staffing firm before moving on to my next career opportunity.
When I left that job and moved to Connecticut, I knew I still wanted to pursue a career in the technology staffing industry. I had developed a good knowledge base and passion for different technologies at this point. Even to this day, I’m still learning about other technologies because it’s constantly evolving. As technical recruiters, we always need to keep up-to-date with these changes and with the technology market in general. I’m currently a Senior Technical Recruiter for Benchmark IT, and it has been a great experience so far.
What do you find the most exciting about working with clients, candidates, and staff?
In order to work and be successful in the technology staffing industry, you must be a people person. This is one aspect of the industry that I really enjoy. I find it exciting talking to new people, building relationships, networking, and getting the opportunity to learn something new every day. Overall, I enjoy building relationships with people and the satisfaction of being able to help them, whether it’s a client or a candidate.
What is it about Benchmark IT that makes you want to (virtually) come into work every day?
I’m new to the Benchmark IT family, and the people I work with now have been very welcoming. Everyone in the company has been very accommodating and helpful, and they wish nothing but success for everyone they work with. It’s a team-oriented environment where all employees are on the same page regarding their work. I’ve been in very cut-throat work environments before this job where everyone is out for themselves, and Benchmark IT has proven to be nothing like that. Although we are working remotely now, I look forward to the day we can be back in the office and work together on an even closer scale.
