Back-End QA Engineer – Long-term Contract:

Our direct client, a global financial services firm, is looking for a QA Engineer focusing on back-end testing.  You will test and verify performance improvements based upon architectural and software modifications. Collaborate effectively with the development team members, and test environment technical support staff in the execution of tests to verify improved performance. This position supports testing efforts of medium to large complexity. Overall 8+ years of experience of IT experience with minimum of 4+ years of ETL/ Data Warehouse Testing and at least 2 years of experience in testing performance of applications. You should have experience in writing SQL (medium to complex) strong data warehouse and BI knowledge. Experience with Oracle databases, Stored Procedures, UNIX/LINUX and BI tools like OBIEE, etc. Experience using HP ALM for defect management. At least 3 – 5 years of experience of working on financial services applications. Solid time management and prioritization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Execute test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures

• Test system modifications to prepare for implementation

• Develop testing programs that addresses areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, or usability

• Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers

• Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content

• Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes

• Create or maintain databases of known test defects

• Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required

• 8-10 years experience required

• Experience testing software

• Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports

• Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing

• Any investment management applications, performance data knowledge is a big plus
