Database Support Lead - SQL Server / Azure PaaS, Long Term Contract - Hybrid

Our direct client, a global firm, has a position for a long-term contractor (12-36 months) to join the team, to be a Database and Application Support Lead (ASL) on data analytics applications with large SQL Server databases in Azure.   

In this role, the consultant is responsible for application management and support, understanding design enhancement changes, responsible to review and create technical assessment documents, debug .NET/Angular and SQL code, troubleshoot performance issues and provide strong technical leadership to the support team onshore and offshore. The application supported is running on Windows OS, IIS, WCF services and SQL server with several components in Azure PaaS 

The consultant will utilize their SQL Server Data analytical skills, working with large datasets such as 100m, 200m rows, conversions, processing Cube, Azure PaaS, Databricks, pipeline and pySpark skills.

This position is 3 days/week in the Montvale, NJ office, to collaborate with the business teams who are also in hybrid mode working onsite those days, and Mondays and Fridays work-from-home.   A candidate who is willing to move him/herself to the area for this assignment is also acceptable.

 Desired Skills:

  • 2-3 years of experience working with data and supporting data analytics within the Azure cloud platform.
    • *Hands on experience using Azure PaaS services like ADF, Synapse, ADLS, Azure Data Bricks, and Power BI.
    • *Experience supporting applications that ETL data into Azure Data Storage services using a combination of Azure Data factory, and T-SQL.
    • *Knowledge how to configure and navigate between PAAS components in debugging ETL issues.
    • *Expert level knowledge on SQL, data base administration and other data platforms. SQL performance troubleshooting a plus.
    • Familiar with python, PySpark.
    • Database management knowledge focusing on Microsoft SQL Server technology including writing SQL stored procedures and SQL Server Management Studio
    • Experience in data analytics and SQL, any exposure to data in SAP Master & Transaction tables, Oracle, and/or Microsoft Dynamics is a big plus, as these data types are the sources of data going into SQL Server

    The team consists of onshore and offshore members, the ASL role is to manage this team and drive continuous improvement

Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science
Preferred -, ITIL, SQL Certification, MCSD – Azure Solutions Infrastructure
