Sr. Business Analyst - ServiceNow - Long Term Contract - Remote

Our direct client is building a new software application based on the ServiceNow platform and integrating with other systems, and we seek an experienced Business Analyst who has worked on ServiceNow projects in the past, and understands Service Now functionality and will able to use this experience to understand and write requirements and user stories for this project.   This is a long-term (12-24 months) contract assignment.  

Please note this role is remote working primarily on east-coast hours, but may require attending periodic (perhaps quarterly or every 6 months)  on-site workshops in the northern New Jersey office (travel expenses will be paid). 

The Sr. Business Analyst will support a cross functional transformation initiative to improve the consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of how clients and engagements are evaluated across the global organization. They will work closely with the business process leads and IT application development teams to facilitate requirements gathering sessions in order to model current state processes, develop future state business processes, gather business rules, and document business requirements / user stories to create detailed functional and nonfunctional specifications that support the implementation of technology solutions.  They will participate in design sessions with business and technical leads to specify the solution at a detailed functional level, as well as help evaluate and validate that the proposed technical solution meets the business requirements and is fit for purpose. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with business process leads to gather high-level business requirements, documenting findings and decisions within acceptable standards and templates
  • Perform requirements development, analysis, and create related documentation, i.e. use cases, business process diagrams, use case realizations, user interface storyboards/prototypes, report mockups, data conversion specifications
  • Translate requirements and work with IT on the development of implementation options to be then played back and serving as an interface to the business process leads
  • Analyze the impact to integration points and ensure that design can meet the need
  • Ensure traceability from business requirements through application testing
  • Interface with the testing team and help them to prepare for testing 
  • Review test cases, and test scripts developed by the testing team, as well as perform spot checking to ensure functionality meets business requirements 
  • Become a SME with regards to application functionality and be able to validate if a reported issue is a defect or an enhancement
  • Work with the other members of the development, QA, testing and business teams to clarify requirements and application functionality


  • Minimum 6-8 years of hands-on Business Analysis experience. Proficient with industry-standards, structured business analysis techniques, and practices
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform, preferably GRC and CSM modules is a plus
  • Highly skilled at requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation; including user stories, process flows, and storyboarding
  • Ability to identify ambiguity and propose necessary specificity to eliminate ambiguity and ensure alignment with business needs
  • Previous experience working on large and complex software development, while interacting with multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization
  • Experienced working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Business Process Management, LEAN Six Sigma experience is a plus
  • Strong experience with Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams; preferred exposure to Azure DevOps
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proficient at communicating/interacting professionally with diverse groups, clients, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency, strong work ethic and results oriented team player
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Professional designation such as CBAP or PMP is a plus

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience
