Senior AI Architect/Engineer - Long-term contract - Remote

Senior AI Architect / Engineer

U.S. based long-term contract opportunity | Primarily remote | Travel to New Jersey approximately every 1–2 months

For our direct client, a prestigious global firm, we seek senior AI architects and engineers to build a high-priority application headed for production and help shape it into a scalable platform. This is a hands-on role with room to make meaningful architecture decisions. You’ll write code, guide technical work across teams, and help establish practical ways to develop, test, deploy, and monitor AI applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build production-grade agentic AI applications and workflows on Azure.

  • Develop solutions using LLMs, RAG, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.

  • Establish AgentOps practices, including automated testing, evaluation, CI/CD, versioning, and production monitoring.

  • Make sound architecture choices across application, data, and cloud services, with attention to scalability, cost, security, and data governance.

  • Work independently and provide technical direction while staying closely involved in implementation.

  • Help test and refine an AI-assisted software development process, with flexibility in the coding tools you use.

Desired Experience:

  • Substantial software engineering experience and strong data engineering fundamentals.

  • Several years building AI applications, such as agents, chatbots, or recommender systems.

  • Direct experience designing, coding, and shipping at least one production-grade application.

  • Deep understanding of LLM and agentic system design, including evaluation and risks such as prompt injection and data leakage.

  • Experience deploying and operating applications in Azure; familiarity with containers, microservices, or event-driven systems is valuable.

  • The judgment to balance delivery speed with long-term reliability—and the ability to lead without stepping away from the code.

Candidates must be based in the United States and able to travel to New Jersey for occasional team workshops. (i.e. every month or two for 2-3 days – expenses to be reimbursed)
